Ionic Bonds

What is an ionic bond?
An ionic bond is the force of attraction between the opposite charges of an ion. One element in an ionic bond loses electrons, and another element must gain the electrons. Some atoms lose electrons to make the outside energy levels become more stable. Atoms become more stable when their outer most energy level has 8 electrons. Pure ionic compounds usually are crystalline solids, liquids, or gases.

    teacher how to determine which is metal n non-metal
    In class ,i usually use my six sense to determine them
    but luckly ,my six sense is 100% correct

    good.. correct...hmm.. differentiating metal n non-metal... since u've learnt periodic table... elements from group 1, 2 and 13 are metals... form 1 u'll did learn the basic characteristics of metal... flip tru ur pmr book k :D

    Kenneth, yeap, ur answer is correct. go and try the balancing equation part ya... another thing, bout the ionic structure u drew the other day, [Na]1+ 2 [O]2-,I've double checked with SPM exam marker, he said it's wrong to write like your way... so just follow the one I taught you guys okay... [Na]1+ [O]2- [Na]1+
