PAPER 3

3 questions = 50marks = 25%
question number 1 and 2 is usually related to reading an apparatus reading, variables or graph, practically will be only about experiments... so read up on all the possible experiments from now on...
List of Experiments:
1. Heating and cooling of napthalene
2. Determining emperical formula for Magnesium oxide (reactive metals)
3. Determining emperical formula for copper oxide (less reactive metals)
4. Group 1 - reaction with Chlorine..Oxygen..Water..
5. Group 17
6. Period 3
(a few simple experiments from chapter 5)
You can discuss anything here regarding those experiments... pls share info here..

    which paper is a report?..2?..erm..i know the paper 2 tricks lar..about the table tuu..haha..paper 3 is the hardest part..

    actually paper 3 is the easiest...
    it comprises of 3 questions...
    the last one is the report part...

    hmm... to like chemistry u need to tell yourself that u can score it... not everyone will like chemistry because its very abstract but actually it's pretty simple... u need to like maths and u must be the type of person who can visualize things (imagining type..)

    here is an example of question 3 in paper 3. try it out!!!
    A student intends to determine the melting and freezing point of napthalene in lab. Design an experiment for him. the Experiment should include the following:
    a)Hypothesis
    b)Variables
    c)Material/apparatus
    d)Procedure
    e)Tabulation of data

    QUESTION 1 & 2.... 33MARKS... easy ones
    QUESTION 3... 17marks... this is the report part... remember, in paper 3, report, the data/table not need to fill in the observations.... easy right :X

    Hi all.. sorry I've been very bz lately.. will be online active from now on... for papaer 3, the table blank only but must be labelled. for example, an experiment to show the reactivity of group 1 metals with water....
    Hypothsis: The reactivity of Li, Na and K will increase as decending/going down the group
    Manipulated V: Type of group 1 metals
    Responding V: Reactivity with water
    Constant V: think by urself
    For the data/table:
    must have one column for type of group 1 metals and one column for reactivity with water

    Simon, in paper 3, we are asked to plan an experiment (not yet done) so cannot insert observations ya... your table must be labelled with manipulated V and Responding V
